As others have pointed out, Med-Peds gives you more access to fellowships and subspecialties. OB can be a big division point as well. For literally everything you're interested in, you can do as a Family Medicine doctor as opposed to a pediatrician. WAY more doors will be open to you such as HIV clinic, LGBT stuff, global leadership, other stuff you commented on, etc, as opposed to peds. You can do everything a peds doc can do, but more as a Family Doc. If you "love" kids but really enjoy providing medical care to adults, then FM or med/peds might be a better choice than categorical peds.
